Employable Me

02/12/2017 by Peak Performance HR

Despite the increased choice of TV programmes, there are, to my mind, very few worth making time for. However one of the select few, is Employable Me on BBC2.

It is about the difficulties some of Britain’s most extraordinary job seekers face. Each has a disability that has impeded them. However, I guarantee you will be impressed by their tenacity, drive and determination. Despite the setbacks they face, they aim to prove they are employable despite their conditions.

The importance of purpose

It has reiterated to me the importance of “purpose” which is largely determined by what we “do.”  Many of the individuals expressed frustration at not being allowed to work because of their disability. Consequently this had a negative impact on their mental health and well-being.

With this in mind, I’d particularly encourage job seekers to explore how they can get involved in the local community. There is a lot out there that can provide you with a sense of purpose while you are looking for work.  https://peakperformancehr.co.uk/the-importance-of-volunteering
